Upon defeating Aldia, both endings are available to the player, and choosing to exit the Throne of Want through the fog wall will result in this ending.
Upon defeating Nashandra, Aldia will fight the player as an additional final boss. This ending only becomes available after the player has defeated Vendrick in the Undead Crypt and after having spoken to Aldia at every bonfire he spawns at throughout the game.
